Honesty
Being honest with other people can lead to trust.
Being honest with yourself can lead to enlightenment… or at least that’s one interpretation of something Bodhidharma allegedly said:
Not creating delusions is enlightenment.
I think that “not creating delusions” requires intellectual honesty.
- What do I really know?
- What am I assuming?
- What am I projecting?
- What do these abstract concepts actually point to?
- Am I collapsing spectrums into dichotomies?
- Am I imposing my subjective views as “objective facts”?
- Am I transforming dynamic processes into static things?
